Yogis and oenophiles ( aka wine lovers!) everywhere are coming together to sip and flow—and it's pretty much the best thing ever!










We all know that yoga and wine are great stress relievers; for some people they may even be the go-to treat. Wine and yoga might sound like a strange pairing, but it’s more common than you might think.  


My experience...


I first tried wine yoga in NYC.  Being my Irish-self, i thought this was going to be a complete piss-up, I was sadly mistaken.  I quickly learned that it was a meditative 90 min long foray into the practice of balancing both yoga and mindful wine consumption. The idea wasn’t to get drunk but to instead incorporate all of my senses in the experience. This gave me better focus and brought me into the present moment.  Seems weird, I know, but it turned out to be a very meaningful and spiritual experience.


“When you introduce vino, the body begins releasing endorphins and your blood vessels widen,” said Cascio. She explained that this helps your body, as well as your mind, relax and also stimulates the cardiovascular system.


“With more relaxation and focus on the breath comes lengthening and stretching deeper into your muscles,” she added. “All of these positive reactions combine and begin to break fears and help you socialize with people in the class.”


And it really is a social experience.
